This is how you get a six pack
I’ve been training for about 9 years now and while I’ve never competed, I’ve dieted down to 5-6 % body fat levels just to see what it takes.

I bought this book simply because I like to get more educated in the field and found it very comprehensive and full of helpful tips and advice on how to get lean. The title is a bit misleading in that it can take longer than 6 weeks to see your abs depending on what kind of shape you’re in when you begin, but I think we all know that it’s just a marketing angle.

Getting shredded really is just a matter of arithmetic: you need to expend more calories than you consume. If you don’t follow this simple principle, no amount of crunches will matter. The bottom line is you need to restrict your caloric intake and exercise to burn more calories. When you do it right, your body burns fat and (for the most part) preserves muscle. You can also use fat-burning supplements to increase the number of calories your body burns each day, but…

This Program Works
I am 5’9" 200, not a thin guy. Used a low carb diet to lose 10 pounds along with this program and in 2 weeks could see real results. My waist is smaller and I see definition in my abdominal area for the first time since my military college days, 35 years ago. The exercises are very well-described, not unusually difficult, and can be done on a living room floor with no equipment. You feel and see the results immediately. I usually complete the third level in 15 minutes. I have never written an online review before but was so pleased with this book and the results I felt that I should. For me it was money well-spent.

This book reveals so much more than just your abs!
I’m reading through my copy of Abs Revealed and just have to say “WOW!” Love this book already and Ross’ professional and straight forward approach. This book is for men AND women (although the cover pic and “six-pack” success may intimidate some women) and really offers instruction for getting great looking abs, as well as better overall core strength, health and fitness. Ross taps in to his years of experience and expertise to craft a book full of ideas and innovative exercises that are easily modified to fit someone at any fitness level (which also means they grow with you as your own strength increases).

The first three chapters or 40 pages, cover Core Concepts including ideas about strength, stability, cardio and diet. I really like how Ross is able to articulate concepts so they are easily understood and applied to my every day life. He addresses myths and misconceptions in shaded highlight boxes and provides his “reality” answers, which are thoughtful and…

The reason I like this book is because….
Fitness is a personal thing. It is a frame of mind and, for those reasons I will draw on my own years of experience with fitness for this review so that you can see where I am coming from. I joined the British army at the age of 15 and enjoyed a great career. I was regimental champion at middle and long distance running (mile, 1500m, 5,000m, cross country etc) and even passed SAS Selection just to serve alongside those elite soldiers. I also served with all three battalions of the Parachute Regiment. I retired from the army in 1993 and still work very hard at keeping fit. In May 2010 I turned 60 years old and I am still a regular visitor to my local Gym.

For far too many years, however, I thought good Abdominal muscles were achieved through hundreds of sit-ups and the degree of severity of those sit-ups. What started (many years ago) as a straight forward routine gradually got more difficult as the foot of my sit-up bench was raised more and more until I was doing 100…

The Complete Book of Abs: Revised and Expanded Edition

Anyone who works out knows that abdominal exercises have progressed light-years beyond the basic sit-up. In fact, a whole new generation of ab exercises and machines have advanced abdominal workouts to new levels of sophistication, designed for maximum efficiency to provide the trim, toned midsection that everyone wants. But how do you put the exercises together into a routine for your specific physique and needs? The Complete Book of Abs shows you how.

¸  The first ab book for everyone–from beginners to fitness professionals

¸  More than one hundred ab exercises–from traditional crunches and sit-ups to such cutting-edge techniques as corkscrews and hanging knee raises–drawn from diverse sources, including gymnastics, yoga, and the martial arts

¸  Includes the “Fifteen Minutes a Day to Ultimate Abs” system, which will take you from an undeveloped stomach to a rippled washboard look in six months

¸  Dozens of favorite and new routines from America’s foremost coaches, trainers, and bodybuilders

¸  How to be your own personal trainer and put together your own routines

¸  The most up-to-date information on diet and nutrition, including a personal
template to maximize diet-exercise efficiency

Already a fitness classic, The Complete Book of Abs, is the definitive guide for abdominal toning and strengthening. No one who’s serious about working out should be without it.Kurt Brungardt was at the front end of the abdominal obsession. His Abs of Steel video was a bestseller, and the original Complete Book of Abs, published in 1993, was considered the bible of midsection exercises for trainers and fitness enthusiasts. The obsession has only grown since then, manifested by dubious infomercial products, a burgeoning fitness-magazine industry promising readers great abs with almost no investment of time and effort, and (perhaps because of the shortcomings of the first two phenomena) a boom in the demand for legitimate nutritionists and personal trainers. Even Brungardt himself came out with a 1998 book, 3-Minute Abs, to take advantage of the craze.

With all that going on, it seems hard to believe that there’s anything new to say about abdominal exercise. Indeed, this revised version of The Complete Book of Abs doesn’t really try. There is a new prebeginner midsection routine, which leads into the more advanced exercise regimens described in the original book, and a handful of new exercises. But other than that, the expanded sections are in nutrition (several new pages of recipes) and total-body fitness (new photos demonstrating exercises for body parts other than abs).

Still, the original package is a terrific deal: more than 100 exercises, numerous training routines, and lots of basic information about exercise and diet. Each abdominal exercise is rated for difficulty on a scale of 1 to 3 and how risky it is to the lower back. The routines are complete and thoughtfully compiled, and there’s not a bit of advice in the entire book that isn’t scientifically legitimate. That’s why this book–in either edition–remains indispensable for those serious enough about fitness to need information that goes beyond the basics. –Lou Schuler END

ABS-solutely a MUST!
Many bodybuilding enthusiasts hate working out their abs. The abs are arguably the least fun to work out. Having said that, the abs are the first part that catches the eye – whether washboard-ripped or flabby. More importantly, from the point of wellness, the abs are the most important part that needs to be kept strong. The abs are the centre of the human body and hold up the entire skeletal structure. If you have only time to work out one part daily, make it your abs.

I have been using The Complete Book of Abs for 2 years now. It was a fabulous gift from a friend, a fitness buff. Let me just say that this is THE book on working out the abs! This book tells you why one should work out the abs; describes the muscular and skeletal anatomy in respect of the abs; the nutritional aspects; warm-up, stretching and other support exercises; the specific exercises in respect of the abs, and the different systems and routines one can incorporate for various purposes. In other…

Consumer Review
good information for starters
I like the book and the kindle version is very well done, as usual.

The book content is below my expectations since this is a book for starters, the information is good and well organized, the workouts are ok but it does not have the advanced specific abs workouts I was looking for.

I mean, if I were starting this would be a great book but for my fitness level and knowledge and my expectations the book would not be very useful if it weren’t for the general body workouts.
