Hero

Designed for readers

Kindle is purpose-built for reading. Indulge your love of reading without interruptions like email alerts and push notifications. The weeks-long battery life allows you to read for weeks on a single charge. Kindle uses actual ink particles and proprietary, hand-built fonts to create crisp text similar to what you see in a physical book. Kindle is lighter than most paperback books, making it easy and comfortable to hold in one hand for extended periods of time.

Easy on the eyes

Every time your eyes switch from a bright screen to a dimmer, ambient room, your eyes have to adjust, which may result in fatigue. With Kindle, the page is the same brightness as everything else in the room, so there’s no adjustment needed. Choose from eight text sizes to prevent tired eyes and keep you reading longer.

No Glare

Flip through without losing your place

With Page Flip, you can skim page-by-page, scan by chapter, or skip to the end for a sneak peek without losing your place.

Take and share notes

Add margin notes that you can edit, delete, or even export from your device to your computer. Share highlighted sections and meaningful quotes on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads, and see passages frequently highlighted by other Kindle readers.

Good Value at $79 with a Few Nits
I am writing this from the perspective of being a long-time experienced Kindle user vs. someone brand new. From an overall perspective, considering the pricing of the Kindle with Special Offers at $79 vs. higher amounts for the different flavors of Kindle available today, this one is a bargain. If you have wanted to get your kids a Kindle to encourage reading as well as sharing of books but hesitated because $119 to $400+ is a lot of money to risk with a child, maybe at $79 this is your price point.

From a size standpoint, the reading screen is the exact same size as the other e-Ink Kindles. It is slightly thicker – but slightly lighter – than the Kindle Paperwhite, but to me it’s not really a noticeable difference when you’re holding it in a protective cover.

Opening up the box, included with the Kindle is a micro-USB cord but no power adapter. That’s really annoying. Interestingly, and it seems rather chicken of Amazon, a power adaptor has to be purchased…

Title : Kindle Voyage, 6″ High-Resolution Display (300 ppi) with Adaptive Built-in Light, PagePress Sensors, Wi-Fi – Includes Special Offers
ASIN : B00IOY8XWQ

Kindle Voyage is our thinnest Kindle ever, with the brightest, highest resolution, and highest contrast display, plus reimagined page turns and an adaptive front light.

Hero Image

Brilliantly crisp display

New—The high-resolution display (300 ppi) features sharp, dark text that reads even more like the printed page. The micro-etched glass display diffuses light to eliminate glare and match the feel of paper. Kindle Voyage features the brightest, highest resolution, and highest contrast display of any Kindle.

Effortless page turns

New—PagePress allows you to turn the page without lifting a finger. Simply apply pressure on the bezel to turn the page, and PagePress will provide a silent haptic response for consistent and immediate feedback. PagePress is a custom-designed force sensor made of carbon and silver, which reacts to a subtle increase of pressure, triggers a page-turn, and provides a haptic response only your thumb can perceive.

PagePress Image

Light that adjusts with you

New—Kindle Voyage can be read in bright sunlight or total darkness—and it’s smart enough to know the difference. The new adaptive front light automatically adjusts the brightness of the display based on your environment, and can even be fine-tuned further to your personal preferences. When reading in the dark, the adaptive front light slowly lowers the display’s brightness over time to match the way the eye responds to darkness.

Remarkably thin design

Improved—At just 7.6mm thin, Voyage is our thinnest Kindle ever. Comfortably hold Kindle Voyage in one hand for long reading sessions. Kindle Voyage was designed to come one step closer to a sheet of paper, with a flush-front bezel for a clean, streamlined design. With a magnesium back and a specially-reinforced glass front, Kindle Voyage is both durable and sleek.

Almost like Paperwhite v1 all over again
I’ve got mixed feelings on this one, unfortunately. This review is coming from a kindle enthusiast who has owned or used nearly every variation of the device since the 1st generation.

Size & Weight

It’s noticeably smaller and lighter than the Paperwhite. When I saw the specs it didn’t really strike me as something that would make much difference to me, but in real life it’s actually great. The Voyage fits into a few of my coat pockets that the Paperwhite was just a little too big to fit into.

Origami Cover

I know there’s a separate product page for the origami cover, but it’s worth mentioning here as it is the “official” cover. The origami cover is ugly and I was skeptical, but I actually love it. It’s weird because it opens by flipping over the top like a notepad. This actually makes it more comfortable to hold when the cover is open, in my opinion. It’s hard to describe, but there are a lot more ways to hold the Voyage when it’s…

Yes, you can add camera and YouTube!!

Despite of most of the reviews say you can add any app to the child’s profile. I personally added ProTube and Perfectly Clear camera app for my 3 year-old son to use. It’s under Manage Content and Subscription> Add Titles>For Kids>All or Video, or Apps, or Books. Then you have to go to the App section on your child’s profile and click on the app icon, so that it shows up on the carousel.

More evolutionary than revolutionary, but worth the upgrade
This is the fifth e-ink Kindle reader that I’ve bought. My wife and I were early adopters of Kindle, and when we buy a new Kindle, the old one goes to the next niece or nephew in line. I loved the original Paperwhite, with its small size, touch screen, front-lighting, and virtual keyboard. The all-new Paperwhite is a definite step up, and for me, it was worth the move, but others will have to decide for themselves. If you read a lot, and you don’t already have one of the newer e-ink Kindles, it’s definitely worth upgrading to the Paperwhite. If you have the original Paperwhite, the upgrade is well worth considering. Although I’ve only had the new Paperwhite a few hours, I’m already glad I upgraded. Here’s a summary of my initial impressions of the new Paperwhite.

SIZE: It’s the same size as the original Paperwhite – 6.7″x4.6″x0.36″. The weight has been reduced slightly from 7.8 ounces to 7.3 ounces. The Paperwhite is very comfortable to hold in one hand, which is how I…

Good as a first Paperwhite, not worthy of an upgrade
This review is for the second generation Kindle Paperwhite. Like all kindle e-readers before it, this is a great product. However, I am a bit disappointed as there is not a huge improvement over last year’s model. For this review, I focused on features and enhancements exclusive to the new Paperwhite and tried to make comparisons to last year’s model. Also, I found somethings misrepresented or confusing in the advertising, so I will try to clear them up.

HARDWARE

Design – The Kindle white has a nice look and shape. It fits well and is easy to hold in one hand. It’s fairly light, so it doesn’t tire the hands too much. I can grip it for long periods before having to switching hands. Its design is very similar to the previous Paperwhite – almost identical. The height and width are the same, the buttons are in the same location, and although this version is slightly lighter, it is not noticeable.

Display – Although not a huge improvement from last year’s…

New Kindle Buyer? Thinking about Nook? Read on …
I got my first Kindle. This is a nice ebook reader. I’m going to jump right in and tell you what I found to be its Pros and Cons. Then I’m going to tell how it compares to its biggest competitor, the Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch.

Kindle’s Pros:

Great Screen: Many people do not find LCDs hard to read on (e.g. smartphones, tablets, Kindle Fire, Nook Color, etc.), but virtually everyone will find E-Ink easier to read, any time of day. Especially the newest E-Ink Pearl displays. They simply look like paper and ink. I have never experienced any eye strain reading E-Ink book readers, but I have with LCD based phone/tablet screens.

Thin and Lightweight: This Kindle is thinner than any paperback and lighter too. This makes it very easy to hold in a sitting position, and for long periods too. It also makes it easy to transport in a purse, backpack, or messenger bag (or in luggage for traveling). Many people like to take a few books when travelling, and this…
