Title : Jillian Michaels: 6 Week Six-Pack

Consumer Review
Give it the goods, get results
At 26 years old and nearly six feet tall, I should be a shapely Amazon of a gal, but I’m not. A lack of portion control on my part and a full time job reviewing video games has lead to a physique that’s not only unflattering, but unhealthy.

Over the course of months of exercise using Jillian’s DVDs, I lost weight DRAMATICALLY. (To give you an idea, I went from a size 28 down to a size 16. Keep in mind I’m six foot tall here.) There was no magic, no bull, just hard work, encouragement, and inspiration. The thing about Jillian is that while she’s earned and deserves her reputation for being a tough trainer, she’s not an unpleasant one. There’s just something about her I respond well to; she’s firm but fair during her workouts, and her enthusiasm for what she’s doing is infectious.

Unfortunately, late last year, in addition to getting complacent, my husband and I were also hammered by weeks where nothing seemed to go right and we had to deal with one calamity after…

Title : Olympic Weightlifting: A DVD Guide to Learning & Teaching The Olympic Lifts

Consumer Review
A Systematic Approach to Learning the Olympic Lifts
This volume represents a thorough presentation of the basic and advanced training to acquire and build the skills to successfully perform the 2 Olympic lifts. For those unfamiliar with Olympic lifting, this sport demands the development of flexibility, co-ordination, speed, and finally, power. Performance of the lifts represents a true measure of overall body strength and agility. All of this goes far beyond gym rat bodybuilding and power lifting (no disrespect – but what are you guys trying to accomplish?).

In more than 50 chapters, Greg Everret methodically works through the basics for learning and performing the lifts. This is probably the first time that I have seen both a precise description of the hook grip and the reasons to use it. Everret uses a unique approach to the lifts by breaking down the lifts into specific movements and exercises from the top down. Learning to lift from the floor is the last part of the lessons.

I am 65 years old and have…

Solid kickboxing workout offers options for beginners to intermediates
NOTE: I received a free review copy of this DVD from the web site Metapsychology Online.

This DVD is led by Violet Zaki, who holds a black belt in karate. She works out with two background exercises, one of whom shows lower impact modifications for some of the moves. The cover of this DVD states that it provides “2 20-Minute Fat-Blasting Workouts” although there are actually several different options for customizing your workout experience. The Main Menu includes an Introduction, Workout Options (described below), Bonus Features (including kickboxing tutorial for those unfamiliar with the punches and kicks used), Also from Acacia, and Credits. If you select Workout Options, you are taken to a submenu screen which provides the various workout choices. First, there is a “Play All” option (51m), allowing you to play both 20-minute workouts back-to-back along with the separate Warm-Up (5m) and Cool-Down (6m) chapters. Next, you can select each of the two workouts, Power…

This Helped Me Make Up My Mind About WLS
I recorded this show the evening it showed, and watched it several times. I decided WLS was the right way to go after watching this several times, discussing it with my Doctor, and performing my own quest for knowledge courtesy of Google. If you are obese, have any medical issues like diabetes or high blood pressure, you MUST watch this article.
