Oh my poor achy middle-aged abs!
I have two other Bob DVDs -(Inside Out Cardio and Extreme Weight Loss) so I had an inkling that this would be equally tough and I was not disappointed. I was, however, drenched in sweat and thoroughly wiped out by the end of the 50 minute segment. The 10-minute “quickie” is no cupcake either. I plan to use this to supplement my normal routine of cardio/Pilates/weights and hopefully as time goes by I will find this a little easier. Word of caution: if you have any type of knee and/or back issues you may want to modify a couple of the moves, particularly the side burpee and the aptly-named Killer Side Plank Twist. If you want a challenging workout for the core then this is your huckleberry!

no structure/no clear instructions/very beautiful
I find this DVD a very beautiful one: the desert, the dunes, Rea’s work, the instructor’s voice is calm and clear… That is the reason why I gave it 2 stars even if I think I won’t do this workout again.

Maybe I am not but a beginner in yoga (I have been working for some months with “Iyengar yoga for beginners”), but I know basic poses and I am rather flexible and fit.

So I tried this DVD and found that the instructions weren’t clear and used to start when she was already doing the movement; she didn’t explain the complete movements/variations/poses, so you have to keep on looking at her the whole time (which sometimes is difficult and dangerous). I found myself doing one variation when she had already moved to another or to a relax pose without notice several times. Besides, she doesn’t keep a clear rythm in her movements, nor let you know how many time/breathings you’re gonna be doing that, so, again, you have to continuously look at her.

At the end…

CAR-DEE-OH!!!
Before now, Zumba 2 for wii was my favorite workout. Now, this new Core version trumps any fun I used to have. I’m a dancer so I appreciate them bringing their ‘A’ game with intricate moves. It is challenging yet do-able. Love it!! So much fun for all levels.
PROS:
*added a warm-up and cool down to the programs(this was omitted in previous editions)
*music is a genre hodge-podge mixing new &old, foreign & English songs
*much shorter pauses in between songs (keeps heartrate up)
*easier to utilize with clearer instructions
*faster paced routines mean burning more calories faster
*shows exactly how long each routine will take so you can better plan your workouts

CONS:
*choreography is varied and could be quite challenging for the novice or non-dancer. Different cultures use different counts so don’t expect the standard 1,2,3,4….
* new format on the progress tracker is much more difficult to understand, are graphs really…

Great Workout!
Just received this in the mail the other day, I am very happy with my purchase. I have done several other exercise tapes, and none of them get watched more than 2-3 times…I certainly see myself continuing on with the Core Fusion tapes! I love that it comes with an exercise band, you wouldn’t be able to do the exercises with out one. You will need weights as well.
These exercises are great for people who don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to exercise and I can already see a difference in my waist and thighs from the previous DVDs I have done after just 8 days! I love fast results!
Highly Recommend!

The DVD alone is worth it.
I just love this little thing. It really targets back and ab muscles effectively. I have exercise balls of various shapes and sizes which give me good ab and back workouts, but this little peanut is deceptively challenging. I really like the DVD which comes with the kit too. The exercises are challenging and the video features some really nice balance moves as well. The instructor is good and gives encouragement without being loud or obnoxious. There are no other participants in the video (which I appreciate). The only problem I had with this product was the pump: it leaked air out as the ball inflated, and this made it impossible to fully inflate. The good thing is that the sturdy metal pin which comes with the kit could be used with another pump I own, so it wasn’t a problem. (The ball needs a pump that uses one of those tiny little pins, like that which is needed to inflate basketballs, footballs, etc.) But since the pump issue may have been a defect of my kit alone, I don’t want…

Here are a few “rules”

1 Do something
2 Do something you like
3 All the rest is just details

New Rules of lifting for Abs fills in the details. Lou writes in an interesting, witty and information packed format, and is a welcome addition to the “New Rules” series. This book speaks to a newly emphasized aspect of weight training namely core training. The book also speaks to another newly emphasized aspect of exercise namely metabolic training. I started lifting about 45 years ago when I joined the wrestling team in High School. Our coach was a Olympic wrestler and competed internationally all through the years I was on his team. We basically trained like he did. We lifted weights, we did push ups, we did pull ups, dips etc (strength training) we did tons and tons of wind sprints (metabolic…
